Duncan Weir launched a drop-goal attempt with the clock showing red but his kick was way short and Bath failed to deal with the bouncing ball and Gray took his opportunity and divded under the posts to win the game. The first period was all about the boot, with Heineken Cup debutant Tom Heathcote kicking the visitors ahead twice, only for the scores to be levelled by his opposite number Weir on each occasion. Directly after the break Weir had the chance to add another three points to his tally but missed with his first shot of the day.
